Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this. I’m going to say it anyway.

I grade you by how well your house is kept.

Especially when someone is expected as a house guest, like for more than an afternoon. The layer of dirt on the baseboards behind the bathroom door- the dust on the statuettes in the living room- the eww around the base of the toilet- and whether or not it appears that your carpet needs to be cleaned. Even if someone’s house is clean on the surface, all you have to do is lift a toilet seat to see how well they keep up. If I go to your house, I’m looking at the fingerprint/dirt smudges that build up over time on the wall of the stairway, where your hands just naturally brush everytime you go up them.

If I don’t like you- or if I’m still evaluating- I will take all of that into consideration for my current opinion of you as a person.

You know what that kind of trait is? Ironically, its disgusting. lol

Anyone else have cleanliness judgment?

you must give me a weeks notice before coming to my house :) lol

ha ha.. Glad I’m not the only one! A two days notice is more than enough time for me… Whew!

My husband doesn’t notice that stuff in our own home. The level of dirt you see is what is left AFTER he “cleans” (which never happens anyway). We would fail your inspection in a hot second. lol

I am guilty of that, too. I always always always clean my carpets before people come over. But, I do judge people by the cleanliness of their house. Not something I am proud of. :(

Dude. I am 100% with you on this one. I actually just delivered a snarky little diatribe about the state of my MIL’s house. We were there for four days with an 11-month-old, and the carpets were THICK with dog hair. DISGUSTING. Bathroom floors? Hair of God knows what sort all over them. Has she never cleaned any of the floors? I’ve never been more thankful for my clean tendencies EVER than I was when we walked through the door of our extremely clean home :) You’re not alone.

thank heavens you won’t be visiting us!! :)

I don’t judge people by their house but I constantly think that people are judging me by the state of cleanliness of my house.

I don’t think I will ever be able to invite you to my house now based on this….I keep it clean, but not thhhattt clean…damn, you made me feel dirty now..lol

I do this, but then I feel bad because I think about my house. And how I get so lazy sometimes and don’t feel like cleaning. But if I know someone is coming over then I’ll clean everything. But sometimes, I just slack.

Nope.. I’m a mom. Sometimes, things get dirty faster than I can keep up. I’ve always been a cluttery person, and lord knows I don’t have time to dust my knickknacks and work a full time job, heh, heh. No judgments from me based on the state of a person’s house.. Unless, of course, they hoard like, garbage or cats or some weird crap like that.
