I have this skin that gets oily in the t-zone, has little bumps and blackheads, and occasionally these big nasty deep zits that I lovingly refer to as tumors.

As you know from this, and this…I’m on a perpetual hunt for good skin care. And it NEVER ends!

I was about to give up (after spending far too much money on the other stuff, then I found an article (here) about- get this- drugstore skin care.

I’m now the proud owner of a bottle of Cetaphil, Oil-Free Moisture, and Neutrogena Healthy Skin cream. I don’t buy everything that is suggested in a blog (I swear!) but all of this, plus some of the makeup she mentioned in another article (here) still cost less than one jar of the Lush moisturizer that didn’t make a dang bit of difference!

Have I seen a difference since I started this new skincare routine a week ago? Maybe a little bit, but nothing impressive. That being said,  for only slight improvement, this is the cheapest method yet!

Anyone have some drugstore staples in their skincare regimen that you can’t live without?

Yes I know, this is at least the 80th 8th time I’ve talked about skincare and my issues with finding a good skincare routine, but it still haunts me.

But the routine de jour is Lush, because their store are really cool and I fell in love with bath bombs.

The current routine is:

Lush Coalface cleanser

Lush Tea Tree Water toner

Lush Vanishing Cream moisturizer

Lush Ocean Salt scrub 3-4x a week

And…I’m currently ambivalent. My face feels really soft, especially after the Ocean Salt scrub, but its nothing amazing. I’m going to keep going with it until its gone (if for no other reason that this is about $80 worth of stuff!) and see what happens. I’m really liking the fact that I’m using things made from natural sources, and minimal animal products- but we’ll see if that holds true when it comes time to buy more. Hah!

I got the Noubar soap which while not particularly lather-y, the smell is amazing- I could describe it as grass + dirt, but its better than that, and I do find myself smelling my hands after using it. It has pistachios in it, but do not eat them while you are bathing, they don’t taste like regular pistachios. Just so you know.

But the thing that Lush is known for however is the bath bombs, of which I am addicted. And I’m not one to hide my addictions, I would like to share them with you. In the form of a Butterball bath bomb, just for commenting and telling me what your skincare routine is. But you could tweet about it too, and leave an extra comment.

So, what are you using for skincare these days…?

Giveaway ends at 8pm CST on August 7th, 2010. And I only wish that Lush would pay me to talk up their products!

Ok, so this weekend I was inspired by the girls on Twitter to deal with the hairy takeover of my forehead.

And possibly my upperlip. If I had that problem. Which I don’t.

So twenty minutes later, I have two eyebrows that resemble lightning bolts, some unsuspecting blemishes are bleeding, and I’m Googling pore minimizers because I’ve realized I have moon craters on my nose!!

A close-up mirror and a pair of tweezers is a dangerous thing.

And my skin did not do well in its close up interview. I’ve been getting these blemishes that I’m pretty sure stem from my brain. They’re huge, they usually show up right in the middle of my forehead so I look like a cyclops, and if I lean over I can feel a pulse. These suckers are resistant to popping- and don’t lie, you know you do it too.

I’m on the hunt for the ultimate facial exterminator because these pests gotta go. I’m open to anything, any brand or homemade remedy, so long as it doesn’t involve mayonnaise. Any suggestions?
