Baby fever has hit hard. As in I have done nothing but talk about babies and planning and due dates and parenting and birth and all-things-baby for a solid week.

Part of it is because my BFF is pregnant!! I’m so excited for her, and now we have a REAL baby to be talking about!!

And the other reason? Its because I’ve found my perfect nursery. My jaw dropped when I saw it (on MLS listings actually) and I immediately stole borrowed the image for future inspiration.

Its gender neutral (I swear the walls are cream, not pink), simple, and I can get everything (except for the crib) at TJ Maxx! I know that frames over the crib wouldn’t fly once baby can stand, but I’m flexible about picture location. But I love this nursery. Love love LOVE it!!

And baby fever rages on…

While watching the Olympics, I have spent an inordinate amount of time on Etsy….god I love Etsy! And yes, my husband fears Etsy….the day I get a BFP is going to be a big day for Etsy retailers! lol
Birds are a big mobile theme, and I’m loving the ribbon! (link)
Seeing the bird theme? I like the black and white, and the crown molding…lol (link)

I have a little bit of an Etsy time warp problem…I get on Etsy, and two hours are gone *poof* the hours have disappeared! My latest finds in the Children/Baby category…

This just cracks me up, I don’t know why….but the dog looks so happy! (link)
I’ve always tried to not make our master bedroom too girly for Marmot’s sake, but I’m pretty sure I’d cave on these. I could possibly hold off for a baby girl’s room, but how cute?! (link)
I love this fabric! I don’t like the other ones in the line so much, but this one caught my attention. And I’m rarely a fan of anything gender neutral, but I think I could go with this! (link)
I love mobiles, and I thought this one was so cute…but do babies actually look at them? (link)
Talk about a little girl’s dream….this is dress-up to a whole new level! (link)
Love love love the long tail hat….I mean seriously, how cute?? (link)

What is your latest favorite Etsy find?

I love white kitchens. Mostly because I’m in the Great Midwest, which is the land of all-golden-oak-all-the-time. In different settings, white can be modern, traditional, vintage, french country…anything! It also acts as a backdrop for bolder statement pieces that can be removed when you get tired of them, unlike the avocado green appliances that are still in fantastic working order. Now not everyone agrees with me….a lot of people feel that white is overused in the kitchen, and that other colors/materials have more character…
But either way, while waiting for the counter-offer on the house, I got to browsing white kitchens, and here are a few standouts….

The mix of modern and farmhouse style…I love the cream and white together!

The vintage kitchen…feels so crisp and clean with the silver accents, and the appliances are so cute!

The traditional white kitchen…I like the taupe backsplash, its all very calming…
Farmhouse style white kitchen with modern touches….love the bright pottery pieces!

And a few more….

This makes me think of a loft, with the high ceilings…
Very traditional, and of course I love the wine rack….hah!
Very simple black and white for colors, but its still a very bright interesting kitchen…
And what about you…..love or hate the white kitchen?

Daydreaming of home. I miss home. I want to go home!
I have recently become obsessed with subway tile in kitchens with white cupboards. I now have a ‘Subway Tile’ folder in my ‘Kitchen’ picture folder.
I love the bright crisp blue tile! So pretty against the clean white and silver of the cupboards, countertop, fixtures, and appliances.
I’m not a huge fan of cream kitchens, but this one is so pretty….its a very pretty kitchen, and the cream color softens it and adds to the vintage-y look.
I’ve seen this color of tiles quite a bit, but can’t decide if I like it or not…it almost seems too blah to me?
Now this one is gorgeous…I love the blue-gray tile, and the dark wood countertops! Beautiful with the stainless steel appliances…
This one caught my eye not because of the subway tile, but because of the bright green with the black toile curtains….so cute!
This tile looks different from some of the other white subway tiles…is it the grout color? I like the white tile and cupboards with the black countertops!
What’s your favorite?

Yes, I’m at Marmot’s family home, and I’m craving Zen. Coincidence, I am sure.

I tend to be more minimalist than traditional….with the minimalism stopping just shy of stark or cold. My bedroom has always been my sanctuary, and I find that muted tones, colors rather than patterns, and minimal wall decor are my preference. Especially after the craziness of the holidays, that creates what I consider a calming and welcoming place to hide relax.

I love the soft blue with the cherry furniture, and the twig/vine thing on the wall is beautiful!
I love the soft green on the wall and the bedding, although I think I’d prefer simpler pictures…
I love beds right in front of windows…depending on what is right outside the windows?? lol
The screen keeps this room from being just too plain…I like the simplicity of the furniture, but I’d like a  different color on the wall, maybe a darker taupe…
This is a beautiful color green that I haven’t seen in many bedrooms…very pretty with the light wood of the furniture and trim…
I hope you all are having a phenomenally wonderful and Zen Christmas!

Have you ever decided if you should be (or should have been) a Boy Mom or a Girl Mom? My sisters and I came up with this probably ten years ago, that some women seem more suited to children of the opposite sex….and other are perfectly suited for what they have, or a combination. I think I’m a Boy Mom.

Marmot loved sock monkeys as a kid, and I have two stuffed monkeys growing up….it seems just too perfect to have a monkey nursery for our ‘Monkey’…lol
I love pale yellow….and the bright color accents keep it from being too cutesy of a pastel room…
Anyone know how where to get those hanging things? I swear I would put them in my own bedroom!
And more monkeys!
I love love love this color blue….the cloud detail is subtle, but really adds a lot to the room…
More sock monkeys! My Mom has seen the fabric in stores, I’m tempted to buy a bunch of it and have a bedding set custom made, because I would like more brown mixed in…
Soft, subtle, and easily turned into a little bit older room when baby isn’t a baby anymore! And I love the light fixture…

I’m not so much a girly girl, and have pretty much always sworn that any little girl of mine would have a non-pink bedroom. But these little girly rooms make me turn into pink cotton candy on the inside! All the cutesy goodness, and suddenly I’m imagining pink bows in my little girls hair….and the pink isn’t obnoxious in these nurseries, and sometimes not even overly pink at all!

The pink doesn’t have to be on the walls! I love the brown-pink combo….
Pink doesn’t have to be obnoxious! Love the accents….
I was all about lavendar when I was little….perfect compromise for a girly room….
Pottery Barn Kids baby room! SO cute, but Marmot would kill me….lol
Forget the baby room….I want these in MY bedroom!

Ok, so the purpose of this blog is the Baby Bucket List. And the BBL came out of an intense desire to get pregnant, along with a recognition of the timing being really really bad, and a need to have something constructive to do in the meantime.

And some un-constructive things to do. Like obsessing over nursery decor. My current obsession is murals, and I have a Baby Room folder on my desktop with the ideas I’ve come across….and here is a very (very) small sample….

I love this one, it looks like Twitter!
This one could be cool in just about any color with a darker shade for the branches….
I’m beginning to see a tree theme….but how cute is the bird?
This one is SO cute….reminds me of Tomie dePaola books….
More trees….but I just love the subtle effect of the
two different shades of green….
And the monkey (in a tree, of course) because my poor unsuspecting future child will be called Monkey in utero….god I hope it’s a boy….
